Born on February 29, 1928 and he was one of the most steadfast leaders of Balochistan. Nawab Marri earned the respect and trust of Baloch youth because of his uncompromising stand about Balochistan’s independence.
Nawab Marri’s son Balach Marri was martyred in November 2007. His other sons include Jangyz Marri, Gazzin Marri, Hunza Marri, Hyrbyair Marri and Mehran Marri Baluch.
After Balach Marri’s murder Hyrbyiar Marri was arrested and imprisoned in United Kingdom but later a British jury acquitted him because there was no evidence against him. Gazzin, Hunza and Mehran also reside outside Balochistan.
Nawab Marri’s eldest son Jangyz Marri is a member of Pakistan Muslim League (N) and he is a provincial minister in current government of Dr Malik Baloch. Because of Jangyz pro-Pakistan politics Nawab had not spoken to him for several years.
Sudden death of Nawab Marri is considered a great loss for Baloch nation and the Baloch national liberation struggle.
