Candidate, Two Others Killed In Balochistan
A candidate for a provincial assembly seat in Pakistan’s upcoming elections has been killed in Balochistan Province.
Said Ahmad Khan, a senior official in the Jahl Magsi area, told RFE/RL’s Radio Mashaal that unknown gunmen opened fire on independent candidate Abdul Fatih and killed him, along with two of his relatives.
Following the incident, Pakistan’s electoral authorities postponed next month’s elections in the constituency where Fatih was running.
Pakistan’s Taliban have threatened to attack candidates and supporters of secular political parties as campaigning goes on for May 11 parliamentary elections.
